Rubbish Pickup Hornby – Fast Mattress, Whiteware & Junk Removal
Hornby has always been a busy part of Christchurch – from The Hub Hornby mall and Dress-Smart outlet centre, through to the growing subdivisions in Hei Hei, Broomfield, and Wigram. With so many homes, shops, and businesses, rubbish piles up quickly. That’s where Rubbish Pickup NZ comes in.
We provide affordable junk collection, mattress removal, whiteware pickup, and bin emptying across Hornby. Whether you’re in a family home on Carmen Road, a flat in Hei Hei, or running a warehouse in Waterloo Business Park, we’ll clear your rubbish fast. And you don’t need to waste time calling around – simply book online in under 60 seconds.
Mattress Removal in Hornby
Old mattresses are one of the hardest things to get rid of in Hornby. You can’t squeeze them into a CCC red bin, and trying to dump one yourself at the Metro Place transfer station often means hiring or borrowing a trailer.
We’ve collected mattresses from houses near Hornby High School, retirement units off Shands Road, and even student flats tucked behind Main South Road. Whether it’s a single saggy mattress or a king-size with a broken base, we’ll haul it out for you. If you choose the indoor option, our team can lift it straight from your bedroom – no need to drag it outside.
Whiteware & Appliance Disposal
Hornby is full of older homes being renovated, and we’re constantly picking up unwanted appliances. Old fridges, ovens, washing machines, and dishwashers pile up quickly when people upgrade.
Instead of wrestling one into the back of a ute and scratching up the paint, you can leave the heavy lifting to us. We’ve done jobs in Broomfield, Gilberthorpes Road, and out near Islington, picking up everything from single fridges to full kitchen clearouts.
Whiteware is bulky and awkward, but we’ll get it gone and make sure it’s responsibly recycled.
Bin Emptying Services in Hornby
Hornby falls under Christchurch City Council bins – the green organics bin (weekly), the yellow recycling bin (fortnightly), and the red rubbish bin (fortnightly).
But CCC trucks don’t always take them. Missed collections happen, and if your bin is “contaminated,” it often gets left behind with a rejection tag. That’s no help if your red bin is already overflowing.
We provide bin emptying across Hornby and Hei Hei. Whether you’re in a cul-de-sac off Lloyd Street or a new townhouse development in Wigram Skies, we can clear your bin on your schedule – not the council’s. We’ve even had whole streets club together when their yellow bins got left behind after recycling contamination.
Household Junk Removal
It’s not just mattresses and bins – we collect all sorts of household junk in Hornby. Over the years, we’ve cleared:
Old couches, recliners, and armchairs from family homes in Broomfield
Garden waste, timber, and DIY leftovers from garages near Shands Road
Kids’ trampolines, bikes, and broken playhouses from properties backing onto Gilberthorpes School
Boxes of general rubbish and clothing from units behind Main South Road
If you’re moving house, decluttering, or renovating, we’ll save you the headache of multiple dump runs.
Junk Collection for Businesses in Hornby
Hornby isn’t just residential – it’s one of Christchurch’s busiest industrial hubs. From Hornby Mall to Waterloo Business Park and Islington industrial estate, businesses generate piles of packaging, furniture, and broken equipment.
We’ve helped:
Retailers at The Hub Hornby clear out cardboard and old shelving
Cafés in Dress-Smart get rid of damaged tables and chairs
Warehouses in Waterloo Business Park dispose of pallets and packaging
Offices along Shands Road get rid of e-waste and outdated computers
For businesses, our online booking means no back-and-forth emails. Just pick your time and we’ll do the rest.
Why Hornby Locals Book With Us
We’re not just another rubbish company – we’ve built our service to solve Hornby’s unique rubbish problems:
Urban + Industrial Coverage – From residential Hei Hei to big business parks
Online Booking – No waiting on hold; it’s all done in under 60 seconds
Affordable Rates – Jobs start at $59, so you’re not breaking the bank
Flexible Pickups – Curbside, driveway, or indoor service
Fast Response – Same-week pickups so junk doesn’t sit around
Dump Runs vs. Booking Us
Hornby locals often try to DIY their rubbish disposal with a trailer and a trip to the Metro Place transfer station. But by the time you’ve borrowed a trailer, tied it all down, queued up, paid dump fees, and lost half your Saturday – you realise it’s not really “cheap.”
With Rubbish Pickup NZ, you get a fixed price, online booking, and we do all the lifting. Most importantly – your junk is gone the same day we arrive.
Estate Clearances & Downsizing
We’re often called in for bigger jobs too. Hornby has a mix of long-standing family homes and new subdivisions, and when people move, downsize, or pass on, the amount of stuff left behind can be overwhelming.
We’ve cleared out homes near the Hornby Working Men’s Club, tidy villas close to Waterloo Road, and even lifestyle properties toward Islington. These jobs often include furniture, clothing, appliances, and general junk. Our team handles it all respectfully and efficiently.

Over the years we’ve done jobs near:
The Hub Hornby shopping centre
